Mexico City: An Epicenter for Collaboration in Digital Humanities

After the launch of a new fundraising initiative to support the Library’s collaborations with institutions and researchers in Mexico, JCB staff and fellows promoted the Library’s digital work and ongoing collaborations in the former Aztec capital. At the June 2018 Digital Humanities Conference in Mexico City, three past and present JCB Fellows – Hannah Alpert-Abrams, Allison Bigelow, and Lindsay Van Tine – presented talks on how digital methods are integral to their research process. The cutting-edge digital scholarship of fellows like Hannah, Allison, and Lindsay inspires the Library to continue to encourage innovative engagements with its collection. Later in the month, Director and Librarian Neil Safier attended the SALALM Conference hosted by the Colegio de Mexico and met with directors and staff of three important Mexican libraries: the Biblioteca Palafoxiana (Puebla), the Biblioteca Lafragua (also Puebla), and the Biblioteca Cervantina (Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey).
