The Smullyan Suite: Cataloguing and Digital Conversion

Brown University president Christina paxson with Clinton I Smullyan Jr

At its October 2018 meeting, the JCB Board of Governors honored one of its longstanding members with a recognition befitting his many years of service on the Board. The room formerly known as the “Photo studio" was renamed the Clinton I. Smullyan, Jr. Suite for Cataloguing and Digital Conversion, celebrating the physical space where careful cataloguing and cutting-edge digital technologies come together to make the Library’s materials accessible. Smullyan’s steadfast support of our digital conversion activities, together with an important gift toward our digital work from another close associate of the Library, will go a long way toward ensuring that the Library’s treasures find their way to advanced researchers and curious publics wherever in the world they may be. Brown University President Christina Paxson (shown here with Smullyan at the dedication), who also serves as Chair of the Library’s Executive Committee, was on hand to thank Clint for his extraordinary leadership through four University presidents and three JCB directors.
