Hours

The John Carter Brown Library's reading room is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am - to 12:45 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45pm, and Friday from 10 am to 12:45 pm.

Reservations are required for all research visits.

Closings

The JCB will be closed on the following dates during 2026:

Wednesday, September 16- The Library will be closed for the afternoon.

Wednesday, September 23- The Library will be closed for the afternoon.

Thursday, October 8 - The Library will be closed for the afternoon.

Friday, October 9 - The Library will be closed for the afternoon.

Monday, October 13- Closed in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Tuesday, November 3- Closed for US Election Day.

Thursday, November 5 - The Library will be closed for the afternoon.

Wednesday, November 26-Sunday, November 30- Closed for Thanksgiving Recess.

Wednesday, December 23-Monday, Janaury 4- Closed for Winter Break.
