Critical Archives Reading Group Meeting

Many members of our community are thinking about the topic of critical archives. In view of this, we created an Archives Reading Group during the 2024-25 academic year as part of Monumental Archives, a larger collaborative project. Archives Reading Group participants read and discuss key classic and new texts from a variety of disciplinary and professional perspectives on the making, unmaking, challenges and potential in "archives."
Our first Critical Archives Reading Group meeting of this academic year will be hosted by Coordinating Curator for Native American and Indigenous Materials Kimberly Toney, and we will be discussing "The Gentleman's Ghost: Patricarchal Eurocentric Legacies in Special Collections Design" by Jesse Ryan Erickson from the book Archives and Special Collections As Sites of Contestation (Kandiuk, M., 2020, Library Juice Press).
