Libraries of the Future, Scholarship of the Past
Please join the John Carter Brown Library for a special roundtable entitled "Libraries of the Future, Scholarship of the Past", which will bring into dialogue architectural specialists and scholars contending with significant changes in the way that research is carried out in special collections libraries in the digital age. Prize-winning architectural firms will include representatives from: Ann Beha ; Sasaki; Selldorf; Marvel; and Shepley, Bulfinch.
The architectural roundtable will begin at 2pm in the main reading room of the John Carter Brown Library, followed by a discussion with resident and invited scholars at 4pm. The program will end with a reception at 5:30pm kicking off a three-day scholarly symposium on the intra-American slave trade and the launch of a new digital database that will change the way scholars understand the development of slavery and the slave trade in the colonial Americas.
