Adding to this season’s staff news, we are thrilled to share that Meaghan J. Brown has joined the JCB as Associate Director for Digital Asset Management. A scholar and experienced digital humanist, Dr. Brown holds a PhD in the History of Text Technologies and a certificate in Editing and Publishing from Florida State University, a Masters of Science in Information Science from University of Texas, Austin, and a B.A. in History from Oberlin College.

Meaghan has received awards from organizations including the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Bibliographic Society of America, and Mellon. Her service to the world of books and libraries included time as a conservation intern at the Ransom Center at UT and a decade as book review editor for Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America (PBSA). She worked at the Folger Shakespeare Library, in particular on their digital platform Miranda, and comes to us most directly from serving as a Senior Program Officer at the NEH where she was leading, among other initiatives, their program in AI and humanities. She is deeply interested and professionally invested in the intersection of digital public access, technology, and bibliography.

In her new role, Dr. Brown will guide the continuing development of our innovative platform, Americana, oversee the digitization of library collections, and steward our complex digital assets. Welcome, Meaghan!
